Purpose of courses

Most of the Worlds cargo is transported by sea due to the transportation cost factor and the volume is increasing by leaps and bounds. The ship building industry is also hard at work to keep up with the rising demand for new vessels. Increased number of vessels result in demand for a increased number of qualified personnel; the gap that needs to be filled.

The course designed by IMETA is intended to fill the gap between the number of qualified personnel and its actual requirement. The course directs the students through a series of academic and practical training which will eventually lead them to their first professional certificate at sea. At the end of the course, participants are certified and able to safety and competently carry out the watch keeping duties onboard merchant ships both at sea and in port. They will be conversant with the basic principles as per STCW regulations VIII/2 & STCW Code Chapter VIII
